It has been awhile since I made the post about being back to running again. Well, I've done it. I have learned to deal with the knee pain and trudge on.
I've run several 5K's since my last posting. I am almost finished with my "6 in 6 weeks" goal. Each time I run at a better pace (I'm really only competing with myself). Since some of them have a small field of participants, I have placed first or second in several.
It's a good feeling to be out running again. I plan to run the Turkey Trot for the first time in years. And, for the first time ever, I am running in a Santa 5K. It looks like it is so much fun! I may train for a marathon (Cincinnati flying pig?).
I'll try to post more frequently. For now . . .

I'm back . . .
I've started slowly running again. I am doing a walk/run program
that, so far, seems to be working. I hope to post more later ;)

It's been a long time
Wow, it's been a long time since I posted. Needless to say, my last try at running again didn't turn out. In the last year I've been through surgery (it turns out I have "bone on bone" in my knee), two different types of injections, etc. and nothing has helped.
I won't let that deter me, though. I am going to try again. Hopefully I will be posting more soon!

New Beginning
I am going to start running again. For the next month or so, I will work on getting stronger by doing my Pilates workouts and working out some at the YMCA (as my schedule permits, with working two jobs). Once the weather is a bit nicer (so I don't fall and injure myself yet again) I am going to SLOWLY start running outside. Ares needs the workout too!
And, if my knee starts bothering me again, I will get over my stubbornness and go to the doctor.
I haven't run since last Spring; I just miss running too much to not go back to it!
As soon as I do my first outside run, I will post it in my blog.

Still not running
I'm still on my self-imposed break from running. My plan is to try again in March or so, when the snow clears. In the meantime, we have a Y membership; I just have to find time to get there :)

Temporary Break
I haven't posted in a long time. I keep re-injuring my knee, so I'm done running, at least for now.

Long Time No Blog
I haven't done ANY running so far this year. Until today that is. Well, actually I was taking Ares for a walk last night and it ended up being a short run. My knee felt fine; granted it was only a few blocks.
So, today I decided I was going to try an actual, planned run. Ares and I are both so out of shape! I have some new shoes I purchased a few months ago from a running shop. So, Ares and I got up and around and decided to go for it.
It was just a short run -- only two miles. And the last mile was much slower, with a lot of fast walking mixed in. The funny thing is that Ares got tired, too.
My knee was doing fine until we got home. Ares decided to chase a squirrel. He got the leash wrapped around a tree and actually had the squirrel by the tail! I strained a bit getting him away from it. My knee is OK, but I can feel it a bit. But I'm hoping it's just a "twinge", and that's something I can live with.
I hope this is the renewal of my running. I have really missed it. I am going to try to very slowly work back into this. My plan for this week is to run a few days, and keep them short runs.
